Our B Corp trajectory

Together with our partner Root Sustainability, we delved into our data systems.
The goal: to map the environmental impact of our products.
These insights help us to implement sustainability in our production processes and make more conscious choices in the use of materials. This is how we lay the foundation for permanent improvements in our chain.
We believe that being a good employer is an essential part of sustainable business. That is why we have completely revamped our employee handbook. Important additions include:
Volunteering is now officially part of our policy. The first activity is now behind us: a collaboration with a local healthcare facility. A wonderful start, and towards the future we want to expand this further. The more colleagues we get enthusiastic about participating, the greater our collective impact will become.
For us, sustainability is about creating value for people, the environment and society. The customer plays a central role in this. Without our customers, we cannot achieve our ambitions. That is why we continue to actively measure, share and steer customer satisfaction. Only through this open dialogue can we further improve our products, processes and impact.
An important part of our journey was establishing our ethical marketing policy. We already had a solid foundation for our Skottsberg brand, and it was a logical step to extend this to all of Wegter Brands' marketing.
Why? Because we believe that marketing is not a manipulation tool, but an opportunity to inspire and support customers in their search for quality products.
Transparency about product characteristics and origin of materials is something we already did. This policy takes us a step further. Among other things, no greenwashing and conscious use of materials. For example, we no longer print our annual catalog. Everything we do print is on recycled or FSC-certified paper as standard. We also use AI responsibly.
In this way we make choices that are sustainable for us and for our customers, without compromising on quality or inspiration.
Making a positive impact on people and planet does not happen by itself. That is why we work with an impact strategy: a long-term plan in which we lay down how we as an organization really want to make a difference. Our impact pillars form the basis of our strategy and are directly linked to our purpose: how do we contribute to a better world?
Why do we do this? Because it gives us direction. It helps us make choices that matter, it strengthens our employer brand, and it makes us more attractive to clients and customers. At the same time, we are anticipating future laws and regulations. In other words: we are building the future today.
Doing business responsibly is not something we do alone. Our suppliers and partners play an indispensable role in this. In order to make clear agreements together, we have drawn up a Code of Conduct. This document describes our principles, standards and expectations regarding sustainability, ethics and cooperation.
The first suppliers have already signed and returned the Code to us. With this we are taking an important step together: taking responsibility throughout the chain. In this way we ensure that everyone who works with or for Wegter Brands contributes to our shared values.
With B Corp certification, we look beyond our own organization. The choices and impact of our suppliers also count. That is why we have developed a supplier screening: a questionnaire in which we ask suppliers about their policy and results in the areas of sustainability, environment and social impact.
This screening gives us valuable insights and helps us discuss improvements. In this way, we not only work more transparently, but also build a more sustainable chain together. Because only by actively involving partners can we increase our impact permanently.
During the renovation of our building in 2024, we received a completely new air treatment system. This allows us to keep the indoor climate much more constant and our energy consumption is stably lower.
We also had solar panels installed on our roof. These provide a large part of our daily energy consumption. The excess energy generated is stored in a battery. The battery supplies energy when the solar panels cannot provide enough.
To further reduce energy consumption, insulation also helps tremendously. To this end, we had a dormer/light dome installed with HR++ glass and blinds that close automatically when the light intensity increases. These blinds are on the entire outside of our building. which also helps to reduce energy consumption.
